Editor's Thought

This application is great for elementary school kids who are trying to brush up on their simple math skills, but can even be entertaining for those of us who considering ourselves to be math whizzes. You’d be surprised at the tricks your brain can play on you while playing this game!

With BrainTuner you can select the number of problems you want to be quizzed one from 20, 60, and 100. Once you have chosen the number of problems you then proceed by clicking “start game”. For every incorrect answer you get you get a 5 second penalty added to your total score at the end of the game. When you have completed a round it provides you with your actual time, plus any penalties giving you your total time in addition to your percentage of accuracy.

On the home screen it provides you with your best time for each problem set and allows you to reset or email your best time to friends and family. In addition it also provides you with a difficulty setting where you can choose how difficult or easy you would like your problem sets to be. Choosing a lower setting is great for younger kids and a higher setting can be challenging enough for even the smartest math minds.

By selecting the “i” in the bottom right hand corner you can change the settings and choose if the sounds is on or off, if you would like a countdown timer before you start playing each round and whether you would like addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division problems. Lastly, you can select to turn on or off answer reviews to choose if you would or would not like to see which answers you got correct and incorrect.
